Missed the Nuxeo LTS 2025 Launch from Hyland? Here’s the recap and my take on it

🚀 What's New in Nuxeo LTS 2025

Nuxeo LTS 2025 is officially live. Here's what you need to know if you missed Hyland's official webinar:

📦 Independent Search Is Here Search is now a first-class, modular citizen. No more deeply embedded server config-search is now packaged like any other add-on. You can:

  • Scope different search services for repo and audit.
  • Easily switch providers (OpenSearch 2+, Elastic 9+, Mongo Atlas Search, etc.).
  • Optimize cost and performance with tailored setups.

This shift unlocks serious flexibility-and boosts performance, especially for AI and audit-heavy use cases. In my view, it also lays the groundwork for tighter integration with the Hyland Content Intelligence Cloud, which makes a lot of sense given where the platform is heading.

⚙️ Tech Upgrades

  • JDK 21 and a move to Jakarta EE 10 / JAX-RS 3.
  • Upgraded core components like Mongo, Kafka, Postgresql and more.

🧠 Hyland Content Intelligence Cloud

Even though these services technically sit outside the core Nuxeo platform, it's clear that Hyland's strategic focus is on AI-and the direction is to tightly integrate these capabilities into Nuxeo-driven solutions. It's not just an add-on; it's where things are headed.

  • IDP (Intelligent Document Processing): Automates classification, enrichment, and workflow from ingestion to deployment.
  • Knowledge Enrichment: Extracts meaning from all content types-images, video, audio, and more.
  • Agent Builder: AI-powered assistants tailored to your business needs-think complex, reasoning-driven task chains with content awareness.

🌐 UI Evolution:

  • Web UI is here to stay but Hyland is commited to the Angular route for the future.
  • Continued investment in Web UI, including a new Admin console and accessibility improvements.
  • The new Angular-based UI toolkit is coming soon, allowing for custom modern front ends, without forcing a transition (various UI content accelerators).

☁️ Multi-Cloud & Multi-Repo Ready Support for AWS, Azure, and GCP keeps growing. Expect improved options for:

  • Low-cost audit/search instances
  • Secure archives in secondary repositories
  • Custom architectures across cloud and on-prem

The takeaway? More flexibility. More control. Less lock-in.

⛔️ What's Deprecated

  • JSF is officially gone in LTS 2025. Use the Web UI Admin Console or other supported front-end options.
  • Live Connect and IMAP are deprecated. These features are being phased out in favor of more modern, centralized solutions.

Heads-up: Support lifecycle is changing from 2+2 years to 2+1 years (2 years active, 1 year maintenance), so plan your upgrades early to get the most value.
