Plain answers about what this site collects. It isn't much.

The short version
No advertising trackers or visitor accounts. We count article contact clicks and successful form submissions in aggregate. If you contact us, we receive the information you send.
What we collect
- Server logs. Our host, AWS Amplify, keeps standard access logs: IP address, browser user agent, and pages requested. We use them to keep the site running, nothing else.
- Email. If you write to contact@maretha.io, we receive what you send and keep the thread in our mailbox so we can reply. The contact form does the same thing: it hands your note to Amazon SES, our email provider, which delivers it to that mailbox. The message contents are not stored in our site database. A separate aggregate counter records successful form submissions after SES accepts the message; it does not contain your name, email or note.
- Job applications. The careers form emails us your name, your address, your answers, and the files you attach, along the same path. Applications live in our mailbox and nowhere else, and we keep them only while the role is open unless you tell us we can hold on to yours.
- Post images. Cover images on Insights are served from Firebase Storage on Google Cloud, which sees those requests the way any image host does.
Anonymous aggregate measurement
Our own site code counts clicks on the contact links at the top and bottom of articles, and contact-form submissions accepted by our email service. Google Cloud Firestore stores daily counts by article, link placement and a broad source category: search, AI, other or direct. The category uses the referring site when your browser supplies it; we do not store the full referring URL.
These counters do not store names, email addresses, message text, IP addresses, browser identifiers or individual event timestamps. They use no cookies, local storage or visitor identifiers. Article and source labels can travel to the contact page in its URL. We retain aggregate counts to compare trends; they cannot be used to retrieve an individual's activity. Standard hosting logs described above are separate from these counters.
What we don't do
- No third-party analytics scripts or advertising trackers.
- No cookies on the public site.
- No sale of your information. The service providers described here process data to operate the site and deliver messages.
The admin area
Our team signs in with Google, through Firebase Authentication, to publish Insights posts. That sign-in exists for us, not for visitors.
